Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology studies biochemical, genetic, and molecular basis of human disorders.  Generation of genetically-engineered animals and their use to study gene function as well as to recapitulate human diseases are principal themes in the department (Figure). Although we are currently focusing on the investigation of the cellular mechanism of normal development and malignant transformation for hematopoietic tissues, our interest involves wide-variety of cellular behavior and disorders which are dealt with in medical science.
