Research Contents
Neurosurgery involves surgical treatment of nervous system disorder, whether central or peripheral nervous system. The disorder includes brain tumors, cerebrovascular diseases, head injuries, malformation, and brain dysfunction, which lead to decreased performance status and threaten life of neurosurgical patients. Surgical treatments accomplish benefits over disadvantage on the basis and rationale of nervous system characteristics and specificity. As new technology and apparatus evolve, neurosurgery aims at attaining less invasive and maximum benefits. On-going research topics contain multifactorial diagnosis and multimodal treatments as follows:
  1. Multiple aspects of brain dysfunction, plasticity, and regeneration
  2. Molecule-based optimum treatment in cerebrovascular diseases
  3. Cerebral blood flow and metabolism in intravascular neurosurgery
  4. Molecular and genetic targeting in brain tumor therapy
  5. Less invasive surgical approach in deep seated brain lesions
  6. Acute pathogenesis and tailor-made treatment in brain injuries
  7. Pathogenesis and repair mechanism in brain dysfunction diseases
